No Hittites?) arrived at Eton Manor to take part in the annual Frying Pan relay, it was Eton Manor's turn to host so the course was nice and flat with none of those nasty hills to climb. As ever, the Manor arranged for the sun to be shining and the rain to stay away. (The Ed's Alzheimer's worse than he thought, then...) At one stage there were 6 teams but Patrick Smith decided discretion was the better part of valour after a period of inactivity, so we rejigged into 5 remaining teams, 3 per team. Once the reluctant handicapper (Steve Adams) had sorted the teams we were soon underway. Immediately, Neil posted the fastest leg 9min 34s, closely followed by Ben Hall and Johny Wallis. Unfortunately some thieving b******d had stolen some of the lead ofF our beloved club house roof during the week. With overhanging loose tiles, the emergency contractor for once turned up earlier than expected, in the middle of the race! Teresa had to dash back to the clubhouse and miss her 2nd run (that's her story, but when I got back I could see no one and no new tiles!). In Teresa's absence, her 3rd leg team mate, Claire Thurgood set off with another 3rd leg runner, John Few to record a faster time than on her 1st leg! Winning team was Roger, Mary and Ian but it was close with all completing teams finished within 4.30 minutes of each other. Then it was back to tea and cakes at the clubhouse, with the sun shining where the roof used to be! Thanks to Paula Steere for helping with recording.
