Orion London Marathon Club Places 2012
London Marathon 2012 Club Place Allocation Criteria
We are very lucky that, due to the efforts of those who staff
the marathon drinks station each year, we are normally able to
provide places for the majority of those who want them.
To be eligible for a marathon place, you should be a fully
paid up first claim member as at the 28th November
and notify your captain that you would like a place
by that date.
Where there are more applicants than places,
priority will be given (in order) to:
* those who have not had a club marathon place in the
preceding 3 years
* those who were unsuccessful in the London Marathon ballot
* who have helped out (marshalling etc) at club races or in
the running of the club during the year
* who have competed for the club in Grand Prix events
* second claim members.

Every year, Orion Harriers are in receipt of a number of Guaranteed London Marathon places. We like to ensure that the Club gets maximum benefit from them, so over the years we've instituted a system that we believe helps the club - and is as fair as we can make it. What follows is a bit about that system... Those first claim Orion members who, as in previous years, are deemed to have assisted the club as fully as possible, whether it be marshalling, manning the canteen on race days, coaching, or other similar duties will be considered for London Marathon places. In order to be considered for a marathon place you need to contact either the Captain or Ladies Captain informing them of your desire to run the London as soon as you have entered the General Public ballot for London Marathon places. If you're then unsuccessful in the General Public ballot, please let your captain know as soon as possible so they can discuss the merits of each individual and thus distribute places as fairly as possible.
