The Orion Fifteen - 2010Saturday, 20th March, 2010 @ 2.00pm
Entry limit: 250 Entries Closed: Tuesday, 16th March
|
Founded in 1954... and also run way, way back...
...we're talking Iron Age predecessors...
(Check the Race History.)
The race is held on the third Saturday of March. Always.
(Er... in 2006 we agreed to shift it - for one year only -
to help Trent Park host a Chingford League match.
...and... harruuummph!! again in 2007
and grumble grumble in 2008...)
When upstart races clashed, their numbers plummeted.
London Marathon did. Once.
March 18, 2000 saw the 47th Orion 15. A fine
victory for Orion's Peter Tarrier!
Over-reaction to Foot and Mouth cancelled the race in 2001.
In 2003, due to certain forest roads being surrendered to
cars, the course changed so it no longer ventured across
Woodridden, under/over the M25 and back.
It's still a CLASSIC course! |
