Committee Meeting Minutes: 30 November 2006
1. Present
Dave Brock, Bob Everett, Mary Armitage, Mary Armitage, Bill Bennett, Quin Broadbent, Jim Dawson, Steve Simpole, Steve Bunce, Clare Thurgood, Peter Bulaitis, Andy Lunn, Tim Wright
2. Apologies for Absence
Maxine Joyce, Jane Farrier
3. Minutes of Previous Meeting and Matters Arising
The subject of a new cleaner was raised and this would be resolved once the building works were complete. It was agreed that we have an adequate number of qualified first aiders and that a list will be published. Alan Dickin is nominally in charge of the canteen.
4. Hon.Secretary’s Report
The secretary raised the issue of registration within a national athletic database. This will be put in place from April 2007. From then, each competitor will pay an annual fee (£3 in the first year and £5 in subsequent years) replacing the fee the club pays to SEAA. UKAthletics will take on the responsibilities of registration and insurance. The Secretary was concerned about whether non-competing club members would be insured. Steve Bunce pointed out we needed to understand the inter-relationships between national, regional and club policies.
There are 12 new Members:
Andy Thorpe, Anna-Maria Taylor, Lawrence Shafier, Sara Scott, Thirza Quinn, Belinda Lewis, Susan Hutson, Sara Ford, Geraldine Caplan, Helen Conway
5. Hon. Treasurer’s Report
Subscriptions are coming in and the club has received donations amounting to £750. The costs of the ceiling work were discussed, but final figures were not available. It is understood that the 100 club will donate about £500 towards the work. Apparently the boilers are too old to be brought into a maintenance contract. Steve Bunce will talk to Richard Burrell, the Corporation's clerk of works, about whether they would take some responsibility for them.
6. Club House Refurbishment
The committee expressed their thanks to Steve Simpole and those others who had given up their own time in arranging the clubhouse building works and sorting it all out so quickly. At the moment, the club has no-one to make minor repairs to the building, so if any member is aware something minor, there is nothing to stop any member simply sorting it out. It may be this can be resolved with the cleaning issue in the longer term.
7. Any Other Business
The method of allocating the club's London marathon entries was discussed and it was agreed the existing process should continue and be put on the club website.
It as agreed that Committee meeting minutes should also be put on the website.
Short informal planning meetings will be arranged 2-3 weeks before each home match to discuss logistics, particularly marshalling, catering and trail-laying.
The County Hall Hotel has been booked for 31 March for the dinner dance.
It was agreed to let Sedgwicks Sport Shop in Walthamstow (424 Forest Road) carry a stock of club tracksuits and that we needed to sell off our existing stock.
